20th Century British Abstract / Figurative

John Miller was an English artist born in London who became famous for his idyllic representation of beach scenes in his home county of Cornwall.  During the 1970's he emerged as a cultural figurehead within Cornwall.  He was elected to become a member of the Newlyn Society of Artists in 1961. He has been a household name in Cornwall since the 1970's and his work has a high public profile, both in the UK and internationally.

In 1975 he held his first solo exhibition in London at the Anthony Fortescue Gallery and afterwards showed regularly at The Brotherton Gallery, Walton street. He acquired a large following through posters and cards of his paintings.
2001 John Miller exhibited with The Portland Gallery, London.
